Aylesbury Relay 2017

NEW HOME FOR RELAY FOR LIFE AYLESBURY 2017!

Relay for Life Aylesbury has a new home for 2017 – RAF Halton!

The 24-hour Relay, where teams have to keep at least one member on the walking track throughout the event, day and night, will be held at Nuffield Pavilion on Chestnut Avenue.

Since Relay for Life Aylesbury launched in 2009 it has raised an amazing £553,000 for Cancer Research UK.

“Relay honours those who have lost their lives to cancer, celebrates the lives of survivors, raises money to help fund ground-breaking cancer research and, most importantly, is fun,” said Relay for Life Aylesbury Committee Chair Paula Kirby.

Relay for Life Aylesbury is a fun day out with Relayers donning fancy dress for many of the themed laps. There are stalls, music, food, a children’s entertainer and activities for kids and, as night falls, a moving Candle of Hope ceremony to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, and to honour those who are surviving. Walkers then continue to lap the track throughout the night – many wearing onesies or pyjamas – and lit up in the ‘glow in the dark’ lap!

“Relay is an amazing experience where teams of all ages to come together with one aim, to raise money for Cancer Research UK and help cure cancer sooner,” said Paula.

There are 15 teams already registered for Relay for Life Aylesbury 2017. In 2016, 25 teams of 501 Relayers raised £105,035.46 both during the 24-hour event, and with numerous fundraising events throughout the year.
