Relay for Life Aylesbury 2017 officially launched on Saturday February 4, 2017, World Cancer Day.
The day aims to raise awareness of the disease, and the importance of research into finding a cure.
Every year 14 million people worldwide are diagnosed with cancer.
Since Relay for Life Aylesbury launched in 2009 it has raised an amazing £553,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Fundraisers were in the Friars Square Shopping Centre in Aylesbury and on Manor Waste in Wendover on February 4th to collect donations and to promote Relay for Life Aylesbury where teams of walkers have to keep at least one member on the track throughout the event, day and night. In total £887.41 was collected on the day.
Chair of the Relay for Life Aylesbury committee Paula Kirby said: ““Relay is an amazing experience where teams of all ages to come together with one aim, to raise money for Cancer Research UK and help cure cancer sooner.”
There are 13 teams already registered for Relay for Life Aylesbury 2017. In 2016, 25 teams of 501 Relayers raised £105,035.46 both during the 24-hour event, and with numerous fundraising events throughout the year.
